Taiki Town and SPACE COTAN Honored with Minister of State for Space Policy Award

  • EVENT

Taiki Town in Hokkaido, Japan, and SPACE COTAN, operator of Hokkaido Spaceport (HOSPO), have been awarded the Minister of State for Space Policy Award at the 7th Space Development and Utilization Awards organized by the Cabinet Office of Japan.

The Space Development and Utilization Awards honor outstanding initiatives that advance Japan’s space activities and promote public understanding of space development and utilization.

This award recognizes a broad range of achievements, including Taiki Town’s long-standing commitment to space‑driven regional development, the development of launch sites, launch activities by domestic and international operators, and efforts toward the international standardization of spaceports. We were also honored by the accompanying comment that “further development can be expected as a private spaceport representing Japan.”

Motivated by this recognition, Taiki Town and SPACE COTAN will continue developing a spaceport capable of high‑frequency launches across multiple launch vehicle types, further strengthening the growing aerospace industrial cluster in Hokkaido.
