Taiki Town, Hokkaido, Japan, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the Hokkaido Spaceport (HOSPO) Launch Complex-1 (LC1) Operation Plan.
Background and Purpose
Hokkaido Spaceport (HOSPO) is a commercial spaceport open to the private sector that has been in full operation since April 2021 with the aim of realizing the vision of “Creating Space Version of Silicon Valley in Hokkaido.” Since announcing the “Hokkaido Spaceport Concept” in 2019, Taiki Town and SPACE COTAN Co., Ltd. have been supporting the operation of HOSPO and rocket launch, as well as research and development for the development of the aerospace industry and the provision of business opportunities, including regional revitalization. As of December 2024, HOSPO is developing Launch Complex-1 (LC1) following the experimental Launch Complex-0 (LC0), which will begin operation gradually after completion in Japanese fiscal year 2025, with the aim of launching the first orbital launch rocket by 2027 (LC1 Overview: Attachment-1).
In order to develop LC1 operation plan, a Request for Information (RFI) regarding launch plans is issued to launch service providers who are considering or planning to launch an orbital injection rocket from LC1, as well as providers who may consider launching an orbital injection rocket from LC1 in the future. Please note that this RFI will be carried out outsourced to SPACE COTAN Co., Ltd.
